Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to change or delete it.

Overview

What this policy covers.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Moving Grounds Journal collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and how it is handled. Moving Grounds Journal is published by Beghast Dance & Creative Art Foundation.

We collect very little information, and only what is needed to respond to you or send you something you asked for. We do not sell, rent, or trade any information you give us.

Information We Collect

Only what you choose to give us.

Contact form: if you write to us through the Contact page, we collect your first and last name, email address, subject, and message, so we can read and respond to you.

Newsletter: if you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address and which part of the site you subscribed from (for example, the Newsletter page or the footer).

Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information for every visit, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability. We do not access this for tracking purposes.

Cookies & Tracking

No tracking cookies, no analytics.

This site does not use tracking cookies, third-party analytics, or advertising trackers of any kind. We are not currently able to see how you move through the site, what you click on, or where you came from beyond the basic server logs described above.

How We Use It

To respond to you, and nothing more.

We use the information you give us to reply to messages sent through the Contact page, and to send newsletter updates to subscribers, new essays, archive discoveries, conversations, research, opportunities, and stories from the field.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Sharing

We don't sell or share your information.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. It is only accessible to authorised members of the Moving Grounds editorial team, and to the service providers that host our website, database, and file storage on our behalf, solely so they can provide those services to us.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Moving Grounds Journal or others.

Storage & Security

How your information is kept.

Contact messages and newsletter subscriptions are stored in our content management system, hosted on infrastructure operated by our technology service providers. Access is restricted to authorised editorial team members. We take reasonable measures to protect this information, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.

Data Retention

We keep information only as long as it's needed.

We retain contact messages and subscriber records for as long as needed to respond to you or continue sending the updates you asked for. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, see Your Rights below.

Your Rights

Access, correct, or delete your information.

You can ask us, at any time, to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or unsubscribe you from the newsletter. As a Nigerian organisation, we aim to honour these rights consistently with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, regardless of where you are writing from.
